How did I end up here?

Last year we got introduced to different places for our internship. Not only in Belgium, but also abroad. I decided that I wanted something far because this was an opportunity that may never presents itself again. I decided to go to Pretoria. I applied for the priority country programme to get a scholarship. Sadly I didn't got it an was third on the waiting list. The rest of the year I was thinking about other options in Europe until in Septembre I got a mail from my school: Howest University of applied science. They would give me a scholarship if I did my internship in Pretoria. So that's how I ended up so far from home.

I had different options but I decided to do my internship at the department of malaria control. The research is confidential so I won't be able to give you a lot of details. what I can tell you is that I will be involved in a project where malaria parasites are genetically manipulated to help discover a drug.
